Making Data Dance

Making Data Dance focuses on designing participatory processes for data gathering, review and analysis. We illustrate ways to ground groups in the data they need to make better decisions using the Focused Conversation and Consensus Workshop methods; share a straightforward tool to gather stakeholder perceptions; and provide an opportunity for you to actively participate in and apply the methods we share. *See below for available tiered pricing!*

Description

Learn to design lively and useful data gathering, review and analysis sessions that promote full participant engagement in this one-day session. The dictionary definition of data is — “data – facts, figures, etc., known or available; information.“ Information could be a budget, an annual report, a customer satisfaction survey, student performance data, a 1/2 sheet on a sticky wall. Our question is, how do we make this data dance? How can we make it real and meaningful to the people who need to use it for decision making?

Unlike “experts” collecting and analyzing data and then feeding it to participants, this course looks at designing participatory processes for data gathering, review and analysis. Join us to gain immediately-applicable tools to use in your practice.

Testimonials

"This course pushed me to think about how the groups I work with could become "experts" on their situations by talking to their constituents themselves. As a result, they believed what their constituents were saying far more than if I'd done it on my own."

“I was dazzled by the tools. I have used the Customer Requirements Matrix in many situations to help the group discover their real situation in a way that is engaging, meaningful and illuminating.”

“This course gives you elegant solutions to the challenge of too much data for a group to digest and use. Learn several ways to engage groups in a highly participatory and creative data gathering and analysis. You and the groups you facilitate will appreciate the facile tools taught in this course.”
